It was a fine day for orienteering, warm, but not too hot. We had over
80 starts, including several groups of boy scouts and girl scouts,
doing the white and yellow courses. These may have been a little more
challenging than usual; the white did not have a control at each
intersection, and the yellow did not always have trails to follow,
using vegetation boundaries instead. Nevertheless, everyone completed
these courses successfully.
The more advanced courses had to deal with steep ridges and overgrown
fields to the west, and soggy ground to the east. Judging from the
entries on route gadget (see results) and the directions people took
from the start, not many chose the more roundabout route to the right,
which the aging course setter would have chosen to avoid climb.
Thanks to the many volunteers who made the meet run smoothly. The early
start left some free time at the end of the afternoon, but all the meet
directors could manage with this free time was a nap.
