Mendon Ponds Park
October 2, 2011
After a wet and windy morning the weather the skies cleared and it was a fine day for orienteering. A big group from the R.I.T. Outing Club were the first arrivals and they went out on the Brown and Green courses. They all finished and seemed to enjoy it. A friend of Steve Tylock, Don Swoot completed the White course by following the red lines on the map. He commented that he especially enjoyed going through the swamp between 5 and 6. He must have liked it because he bought a permanent course of Mendon. Richard and Nancy Burgey showed off their 500+ pound pumpkins. Next year we will put one out on the course as a control point. Not sure what the control symbol look like.
Special thanks to Dayle & Rick for setting the courses. Tyler Borden did his usually fine job with preregistration and results. Jim & Patty Borden along with Sandi Willsey did the registration duties. Linda Kohn helped with course consultation and flag pickup. Ed Deller, Jim Pamper and Zach Borden helped with flag pickup. Sandra Lomker was the volunteer coordinator.
