We were blessed with a beautiful day in Highland Park. The meet headquarters was the Recreation Center behind School #12, apparently a little known facility. Newcomers were admitted free; we had 68, many of whom were members of groups. (They may have gotten the impression that cold water fountains and real bathrooms are normal for our meets.) 64 teams in all took part, with about 150 individuals.

Course setter Dayle Lavine took people to some of the most beautiful spots in the park, including a new geyser, the result of draining the reservoir. Only white, yellow, and orange courses were offered, but still many of our regulars took part. Rick Worner failed again in his attempt to beat his wife, Linda Kohn. He completed the orange course in a blazing 42 and a half minutes, but he was going so fast he didn't notice that one of his controls had the wrong code. Mike Gallagher offered a GPS option, where participants received an unmarked map, and the coordinates of the controls. Some of these folks had their comments up on the geocaching website by the time we got home.

We had lots of volunteers: Mike Gallagher, Tina Bray, Tom and Riley Blasiak, Carol Moran, Sandra Lomker, Kathy Eisley, Georg Nadorff, Jim Russell, Rick Slattery, Linda Kohn, Rick Worner, Ron Salladin, and Bob Bundy. We have been to meets (by other clubs) where the total number of participants was less than this.

This meet had a special NOD raffle. Rosie Adams won a one year membership for the University of Rochester outing club; USOF provided Brunton compasses, won by Mary Lummis and Bonita Hewes, and Maptech CD's, won by Rob Hovey and Jack Wallenhorst.
